iFutures is a one-day conference run by and for PhD researchers in the information science community. It is being organised by the Information School at the University of Sheffield to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University’s Information Studies department.
Organised by and run for doctoral students in the Information Science community, it will be held on the 25th July 2013 at the Jessop West exhibition space at Sheffield University. Based on the theme of "The Next 50 years," our aim is to create an event for future information science researchers and practitioners to explore the potential impact of our research, and determine how we can help shape the future of our discipline, both in academia and beyond.
In addition to Keynote presentations by distinguished academic and industry speakers, there will also be significant contributions from doctoral students in the Information Science community, including traditional conference presentations as well as poster and Pecha Kucha sessions. We hope that the conference will provide a valuable opportunity for students to present innovative and forward-thinking research to their peers in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. Best Paper and Best Pecha Kucha prizes will be awarded.
Registration for the conference is £20, which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Further information about registration can be found here
